Enter and Fish aboard
one of Captree’s finest fishing boats to win cash
and prizes
1: DURATION OF THE
FLUKE DERBY:
The Fluke Derby will commence on the morning of
Friday Sept 9 2011@ 6am and will last through the
final weigh in at 6:30pm Sunday Sept 11 2011.
(During the scope of the derby dates, fish caught
between the hours of 8:30pm and 5:59am are not
eligible for weigh in and are disqualified)
2: QUALIFYING
ENTRANTS:
Any person who properly submits an appropriate entry
form with entry fee, pays the appropriate fare and
fishes aboard an eligible Captree Boatmen’s Assn
fishing vessel. *
3: ELIGIBLE SPECIES:
Summer
Flounder (FLUKE) is the only species eligible for
the “Captree Fleet Fluke Derby”. The fish must be of
legal keeping size as defined by the NYS DEC
saltwater fishing regulations.
4: PRIZES:
Prizes are
awarded in order by weight, not length (heaviest
being awarded 1st
prize). There
are three (3) top Cash prizes followed by “other
than cash” prizes. The cash prizes are as follows:
1st
Prize: $1000 **
2ndPrize:

3rd
Prize: $ 250
Bay Category Prize:$350.00
Children’s Category Prizes:
1st Prize:$100.00 Gift Card Captree Boatmen’s Association
2nd Prize:$50.00 Gift Card Captree Boatmen’s Association
3rd Prize:$25.00 Gift Card Captree Boatmen’s Association
In the event of a tie (multiple fish having the
same exact weight) the prizes will be awarded in the
order in which the fish were weighed in. (ie: two
fish of identical weight are tied for first prize,
first fish weighed in is 1st
prize, second
fish weighed in is 2nd
prize)
5: ENTRY FEE:
Entry fee is due
at the time of registration and is as follows:
$10 Entry Fee (covers the entrant for the entire
derby including Ladies and Children, if they meet
criteria must enter in any two categories at
registration.0029
$5 Entry Fee for Children(covers the children’s category only will not
be eligible for other categories/or Hat unless
$10.00 fee is paid)
6: REGISTRATION:
Registration prior to fishing is a must.
Registration may be done in one of several ways:
A:
Online at www.captreefleet.com…Registration online
is available now thru Thursday
7/15/10.
First 300 Registrants will receive a free Hat.
Note: All registrations after the start of the derby
must be made in person.
B:
In person at the at the Captree Boatmen’s Assn
office 8-3.
Available now thru 2 pm of the final day of the
derby.
Note:
On the days of the
derby, ENTRY FORMS will be available at
participating boats, However, it is the
responsibility of the entrant, not the vessel, to
submit the completed entry form and fee to the
Captree Boatmen’s Assn office prior to the vessel
sailing.
7: RESPONSIBILITY OF
PAPERWORK:
It is the sole
responsibility of the entrant to insure that all
entry and weigh in paperwork is filled out
completely and submitted
properly to the
Captree Bait & Tackle Shop or Captree Boatmen’s Assn
office. Shall it be deemed by committee that
paperwork was submitted improperly or incompletely,
the fish is disqualified from the derby. Should it
be deemed that 2011 Captree Fleet Fluke Derby
paperwork had been submitted fraudulently, the
entrant and fish is disqualified from the entire
derby, and the entry fee is forfeited.
8: FISHING EQUIPMENT:
Although
entrants may bring multiple rods onboard with them;
only one rod may be fished at a time. Entrants
fishing more than one rod at a time will (along with
their fish) be disqualified for the entire voyage in
question. Should such a case occur, the angler’s
entry fee is not forfeit and if applicable is still
valid for subsequent voyages.
9: WEIGH IN OF FISH:
The only
official weigh in station is the Captree Bait &
Tackle Shop. Along with proper identification,
an entrant must weigh in his/ her fish in person
within a reasonable time of the vessel docking. . An
entrant who weighs in a fish must be accompanied by
a representative of the vessel (owner, captain or
mate) at the time of weigh in. The vessel
representative must have been onboard the vessel at
the time the fish was caught, and verify by
signature that the presented fish was caught by the
entrant. Failure to meet these requirements is an
automatic disqualification.
After the weighing of a fish, the stomach content of
said fish may be extruded for inspection for
determination of fraud. Should evidence exist that
there may have been tampering with the stomach
content for the purpose of enhancing the weight of
the fish, the fish and entrant shall be disqualified
from the derby and all fees and prizes are forfeit.
The final determination will be ruled upon by a
three (3) person panel consisting of Captree
Boatmen’s Assn member owners. All rulings are final
and non disputable. To avoid conflicts of interest,
the three (3) person panel (selected by the owners)
shall consist of owners from vessels other than the
vessel the entrant sailed when the dispute occurred.
10: FISH & PRIZE
ELIGIBILITY:
An entrant may submit
one fish per trip of eligibility. Should the entrant
sail more than 1 trip in an eligible day, he/ she
may submit one fish for each trip sailed.
11: DAILY DOCK POOL/
BOAT POOL ELIGIBILITY:
Any fish submitted by
an eligible entrant for the derby, would also
qualify for the “Daily Dock Pool” should both
contests have been entered properly and both entry
fees paid. It is the sole responsibility of the
entrant to check with the vessel’s captain, prior to
entering, to determine if the fish is also eligible
for the “boat pool”.
12: AWARDING OF
PRIZES: It
is solely the responsibility of the entrant to find
out if he/ she has won a prize. Awarding of prizes
will be on Sunday 9/11/11 @6:30 pm after final weigh
in at the Captree Bait & Tackle Shop.
Although winners aren’t required to be present at
the awards celebration, all winners that aren’t
present will have 30 days to claim their prizes in
person at the Captree Boatmen’s Assn office located
at Captree State Park (ph: 631-669-6464). Any
unclaimed prizes will be forfeit after 30 days.
13: DISPUTES:
All disputes must
be made and in person no later than final derby
weigh in of 6:30 PM Sunday. Any and all disputes
will be reviewed by and ruled upon by a three (3)
person panel consisting of Captree Boatmen’s Assn
member owners. All rulings are final and non
disputable. To avoid conflicts of interest, the
three (3) person panel (selected by the owners)
shall consist of owners from vessels other than the
vessel the entrant sailed when the dispute occurred.

14: HOLD HARMLESS: The Captree
Boatmen’s Assn may cancel the fluke derby at any
time and without notice or advanced warning. By
entering the fluke derby, entrants hold harmless the
Captree Boatmen’s Assn. and all other derby
affiliates for any and all expenses, damages and/ or
losses that may have resulted from said
cancellation. In the event of a derby cancellation,
the Captree Boatmen’s Assn shall refund an entrants
derby entry fee in the manner in which it was made.
In the event of a postponement, all entry fees will
carry over and be applied to the new derby dates.
15: RULE OF ALL
RULES:
Should a situation arise that is not explicitly
mentioned in these rules and where clarification is
required, a five (5) person panel consisting of
Captree Boatmen’s Assn member owners (and selected
by the owners) will convene and make a
determination. Their majority ruling is final and
non disputable. To avoid conflicts of interest, the
panel shall consist (as best as possible) of owners
least likely to benefit from the outcome.
Other Terms and
Rules:
Entrants and winners may be asked to participate in
photo shoots and interviews. By entering the fluke
derby entrants understand and allow the Captree
Boatmen’s Assn. to use these photos (with their
names, quotes, etc.) for advertising and promotional
applications. Any and all photos, interviews and
press releases are the property of the Captree
Boatmen’s Assn.
For the purpose of these rules, the term “derby” or
“fluke derby” refer to the Captree Fleet Fluke Derby
*All Captree Boatmen’s Assn members and employees
are ineligible to compete in the Fluke derby.
** Cash prizes over $600 are subject to taxes.
Payment of any and all taxes are the responsibility
of the entrant (s) who is awarded such a prize (s).
